From Gwalior to VIT CHENNAI: My Journey in Technology
From Gwalior to VIT CHENNAI
I hail from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and like many engineering aspirants, I prepared rigorously for JEE during my drop year. My initial dream was to secure admission in BITS Goa, which I admired for its coding culture, reputation, and strong curriculum. However, my BITSAT score fell short of securing CSE, and I had to rethink my path.
That is when I chose VIT Chennai, which offered me the branch I have always wanted — Computer Science and Engineering. Looking back, I do not regret this decision at all. VIT has provided me with an environment full of opportunities to showcase my abilities, learn from peers, and participate in diverse activities that go beyond textbooks.
One such experience was my very first hackathon, “Hack The Gap,” organized on campus. Leading my team, we worked under tight deadlines and intense brainstorming sessions — and ended up securing the Second Prize. This achievement, while modest, was a milestone that not only boosted my confidence but also reinforced my belief in leadership, collaboration, and innovation.
Competitiveness has always been a core part of who I am. As a child, I represented my state in U16 Cricket, competed in interschool badminton, and even represented India in international Minecraft competitions online. These diverse experiences made me resilient, adaptable, and comfortable in both individual and team-driven challenges.
Beyond sports and hobbies, my long-term vision has always been clear: I aim to become a Quantitative Analyst and Risk Analyst, combining my technical background with my passion for finance and business. My plan is to pursue an MBA after my B.Tech to gain managerial and financial expertise, enabling me to merge technical skills with strategic decision-making in industries.
Joining VIT Chennai is a crucial step in this journey. With its resources, networks, and supportive environment, I am confident that my years here will sharpen my skills and prepare me to achieve my long-term goals.
